So it's crunch time. Finals start next week and I think I'm ready. I finished my Spanish Final early (we took it this week) which is fine by me otherwise I'd be stuck with a Thursday exam. Which is no fun. Who wants to be here longer than needed? I'm going home to do some serious laundry and then I'm high tailing it back to the dorms for a few days of peace and quiet. Then I get to work like a slave back in Milwaukee until school starts. Even when school's out I don't get a break! lol but other than that I shouldn't be doing too much. I get to hang out with my boyfriend's family for Christmas Eve which is cool, and we're going to my dad's for Christmas. So i get two full days of REAL food... for whatever reason... it's just not the same from a microwave... lol
But this week... actually Yesterday... was the Diwali celebration... world fest holiday celebration which I missed. I was in the dorms sick and stuck in the bed. but my roommate and fellow blogger was there and said it was really nice. What I heard from the LU meeting last week was that everyone was going to be there reppin' their culture, religion, and/or practices...with traditional dishes and deserts... I'm mad that I missed out on the food! But I was even more Mad that I missed the performances... there were traditional dance performances done by PAO (Parkside Asian Organization), PIC (Parkside International Club), LU (Latinos Unidos) and more that I can't remember because I wasn't there... I'm just going by what I was told while I was drugged up on NyQuil...Which I think should be illegal...lol KIDDING...slightly...

Last week I had local celebrities on my radio show... Milwaukee's own Philly and Yung Wize from the Fly Boys stopped in the studio on Wednesday... funny guys... Even though they were late because they got lost....Someone didn't want to ask for directions...lol we had fun and We got new tracks to play on the local artist show.... I'll put the pics up as soon as I can... but I'm going to post this so that you can read something...lol I have been slacking on my blogs... I'm trying though...lol

SORRY GUYS AND GALS... I'VE BEEN BUSY!

I know I've neglected you guys, I'm sorry... I've just been running around like a headless chicken for the past month and a half.

A quick run down on a few events I've attended since my last post.... in no particular order...lol I'll try to make in chronological but... I wont guarantee anything

Make a Difference Day:

A day where all the groups on UWP's campus go out and help around the community. I went with BPG and we were assigned to a place called Cops 'N Kids in Racine. It's basically a place in the city where a former cop started to give away books to kids from her squad car. This grew and she purchased a building renovated it and it's now a library for kids in the city who don't have access to books to read for enjoyment otherwise. They do not charge penalties for lost books but they encourage kids to bring the books back and they do... its a great place with a great idea...Dreams come true!

Our Project was to separate books that were donated to Cops 'N Kids into different age groups for the annual Christmas party where the Kids are allowed to pick out books to keep... a long and dusty process but we had fun...
Our last picture... everyone reading a book upside down... lol... if you don't know... then ask

Poetry Night in Ranger 47:

An event that was put on by a Resident Advisor (RA) that was a big success.... A lot of talented people came out for that.

Drag show: (pics coming soon)

Put on by Rainbow Alliance and WIPZ.... A great event... It was fun and there was personality for DAYS in the show... A great event... I've got a few good pics... but most of them were blurred... The camera isn't made for action photos...and there was a lot of action!

UWM vs Parkside Basketball Game:

A close game!! Division 1 vs Division 2 and we almost won. the final score ended up with the Parside Rangers only lacking 3 points. A game that took place on UWM's home court, The US Cellular Arena and it was a scare for the UWM Panthers... most of the game was tied up.

Parkside's first Men's Basketball game:

UW Parkside vs Michigan Tech final score 78-71

Parkside WON!!! We never beat them... this season is looking good already 3W-1L

Parkside's first Women's Basketball game:

UWP vs Michigan Tech Final score 75-69

Parkside WON!!! the girls team is on a hot streak with 3W-2L this season...

Sunday dinner

All of my friends came together... my roommate cooked a lot of the food and we all ate dinner together...played games and danced to music... very fun and the food was great... instead of the usual cafeteria food...

This week was pretty hectic. I found out that I have more on my plate than expected! I can handle it though... I have a pretty solid support system.

But on a better note this past Wednesday was the Native American Heritage month kickoff. There was a presentation in Main Place @ noon.

There are pics but I'm at work and the computer here is really hard to upload pics on.... so I'll add them later.

there were representation of two tribes that I saw... If i'm not mistaken there was the Onieda tribe... and another tribe from Mexico. I was pretty cool. But I had to jet out early I had many meetings to attend that day.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT!!

Okay with all the stress that we have as student leaders we all need time to just relax. So my group of friends came up with a day that fit everyone's schedule and we go out and do something together. Its our way to stay in contact throughout our busy days.

One way we do this is on people's birthday... like Kellee's Birthday... We reserved a room in Ranger and had a ball!

Last night we watched Transformers in my room. BEST MOVIE OF THE SUMMER!!! Well out of the few that I've seen anyway.

Last week we all went out to eat. We just need a break from everything. And thats why we have girls night out. Call it whatever you want... cheezy...corny... we have fun! We go to local places to try food... we take random trips to milwaukee... and last weekend we all went to Six Flags.

A very random night at IHOP... No I wasn't really drinking the syrup...lol

The school sold tickets from the front desk of the dorms and the APT's and they provided transportation if you went on Friday... there were like 40 free tickets.... I didn't get there in time for a free trip to Six Flags but I couldn't go on Friday anyway... I had work... which is where I am now...But we did go Saturday....And Fright Fest was great! not as scary as I would have liked it to be but scary enough... We all drove...kinda like a road trip... but with two cars.... and I've got some pics...

when we first arrived

We Had fun trying on different hats and shades in one of the shops...

One of my childhood fears... right in front of me... well my roomate took the picture... I think I ran away

Delayed but here...

Sorry guys... I've been busy lately... so things I've done since last post...

Fall Fest

There was a special showing of a movie in Molinaro 105 on Oct. 2nd if I remember correctly...The movie of course was a good one....Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Loved it and I won a shirt for answering a trivia question.

The next Week was the Super Special showing of the movie Jaws... get this... it was in th SAC Swimming pool! talk about so creepy stuff lol. i really wanted to go... but fear and work interfered with this... even though I work at the SAC I had business to handle... so I missed it. I hope they show Jaws 2 next semester.

I missed a lot of Fall Fest because I was working and the day that it started happened to be a very special day for a very special someone. So I missed the Comedian and the Bingo night that my roommate attended and won a very cool and convenient stereo made especially for the iPod. It's cute, pretty small, and PORTABLE! It sounds really nice and it also has a radio!! SWEET now we can listen to WIPZ anywhere.

I really wanted to see Snakes Alive but I was so scared and chickened out... So much for getting a turtle... which I want but am terrified of... I'm working on it I promise! lol but I heard that he was letting people hold the snakes and these were exotic snakes...(I saw some cool pictures of friends) They were really beautiful... but they have teeth therefore... I'm afraid lol

There were so many things going on at Fall Fest that I can't name them all but the Fun Fair was really cool, the Ranger bear was on the loose! lol taking pictures with people. there was also a characture artist and a photographer who put your picture on a magazine cover. There was Sumo Wrestling which was fun... you got to dress up in these huge padded suits and wrestle against someone. it was pretty cool.

I almost forgot about the bucket boys and the bonfire.... the Bucket Boys are two guys who make music on garbage... literally... stop signs, orange construction barrels, garbage cans, tops, whatever they could find pretty much... it was cool I had fun but my favorite part was the bonfire... It was a cool thing to watch...and it got really big thanks to the fire department nothing got out of control. and it helped take most of the bite out of the cold air... it was a cool day, even cooler night...typical Wisconsin winter.... but here are the pics...

The Crew posing with the Ranger Bear

Showing that good RANGER PRIDE!!

The Fire as it was starting...

After it was BLAZING

After it was BLAZING we posed for a Fire Pic...lol

The End of the week....

So this week was crazy as promised! So far we've had double time with two sororities and one Fraternity information weeks. Tonight there is a Gamma party. Last night there was the Zeta Sigma Chi sorority inc. and Omega Delta Phi collab party called Radiant Knights. Because the Z-Chi's are known as the Radiant Ladies and OD-Phi's are known as the Knights. I thought it was cute and catchy. the Party was a blast I had a lot of fun. I have pictures. I think I've gotten a little better with the action pictures and keeping them from being so blurry. I'll let you guys be the judge.

The Radiant Ladies of Z-Chi Party walking/ strolling

Party Goers Camilla from WIPZ flashes a smile to the camera.... Tune in and listen to her show Hot and Fresh

After the party the two DJ's who came to rescue the party, the radiant ladies, my roommate at the very end, and myself in the middle all Celebrating the success of the party

Random Updates

I think I'm catching a cold. this week is going to be intresting with the weather acting very Wisconsin-y and such. I just don't think I was meant to be in such drastic conditions. lol...

The radio shows are still airing round the clock check out the WIPZ website anytime to see what kind of music you might catch... I'm apart of WIPZ and am still surprised at the diverse music selection... I just found out that a show that comes on after me on Wednesday nights plays Classical music...I never would have suspected that from the title of the show, which is Nuclear Jesus... I was fooled lol. but we have Ska music... which I just found out what it was last year... Heavy Metal... Hip-Hop... Rap... R&B... Old Skool. Whatever you want to hear basically... and if we don't have what yo want... come and get your own show!

So this week is Zeta Sigma Chi sorority week.

Gamma Alpha Omega sorority week.

Omega Delta Phi fraternity week.

So many events so little time. Wednesday is my second most busy day of the week, and I am supposed to go skating to relax before my radio show. Not happening this week. I have several informationals that I want to attend that just so happen to overlap each other and skating. So I have to choose. Information... or relaxation? I don't know yet. Probably information... I can relax this weekend and go skating then. I don't know. Today was hectic as always. I'm in constant motion from 11am to 12am... as in midnight...not noon... if there was any confusion with that one...lol. I can chill later this week.... there are two parties. Thursday night is the Z-Chi OD Phi collab party. The coming out for the neos of Z-Chi's ALPHA LINE. So it'll be great. DJ'd by none other than UWP's finest WIPZ DJ Arsenal... Nelson....and possibly Billy tha kid. So I'll be there having fun!

I should be sleeping... it's pretty late... 1 am... I have a busy day tomorrow filled with work and classes... but I had to let you guys in on this past weekend.

Last Saturday Z-Chi's had a community service thing with United Way were everyone washed buses. We had SO MUCH FUN! I'm glad that it was hot out or else I'd have been super sick. We got kinda soaked... kinda soapy... kinda everything really. We washed 15 or 16 buses. 10 smaller buses and 5 or six huge school buses.

So We're back again....!!!!!

TOGEHER WE ARE GROWING POWER! GROWING POWER.ORG

So My summer was a drag. All work and little to no play... occasionally skating to pass the time. 12 hour days in a hot greenhouse with cranky people at least 5 days a week. Every week the same thing the same people. But I did get my little summer love on... but that's another story.

So I come back to school to do freshman orientation and help out with the Ranger Read (The Laramie Project) this year and surprising to me I like it. I was expecting so pretty mean freshman to come around who didn't want to be there but I think they handled things well. A great Majority read the book and liked it. so the discussion was crazy! We had a good time, found out a lot of different angles on the book. I even learned some new things and saw things from a different angle. SWEET!!!

Moving in was hectic. I had no help. well I take that back. My BF and roomie were there but she had to be there and I forced the BF to come and help out. Our Room looks like a jail cell with colorful comforters because we forgot our pictures and posters. There aren't anymore loft kits and we wanted one for our room but... we'll manage.

It's the first few days and already things are jumping right into action. There have been meetings already. BSU, Impact, PAB, and RHA to name a few. WIPZ, the campus radio station, meets Monday's, as well as BPG an outlet for unknown talents, i.e. poets, singers, musicians, thespians, and lyricist... Latinos Unidos meets Wednesday at noon along with PAO (Parkside Asian Organization), BSU (Black Student Union), and PIC (Parkside International Club) to name a few. Those are the ones I can name off the top of my head.

There are events already that I've missed accidentally for the most part, but some were accidentally on purpose. Like the Chainsaw juggler... sounds like it could potentially be gory and/or Gruesome so I avoided it. The Backyard Bash I'm probably going to miss also. Not intentionally but because I'm at work. and it's going on as I'm typing this so... maybe I'll catch the end after work. I'll try.

Pictures... don't have any with me at work so you'll have to wait awhile for those... sorry... got kinda busy and didn't grab the camera or the flash drive.

Any Questions? you can leave a comment and I'll answer them... in the mean time....

SHOUT ME A HOLLER DOG!!! lol kidding... but hit me up.

The Step Show

The Step and Stroll expo was during Greek week and since I have been busy it's going to be added almost a week after it happened. So there were many Greeks who participated in the Step and Stroll event. The Greeks who performed included Alpha Sigma Omega Sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Zeta Sigma Chi Sorority, Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Others who showed up and supported the event included Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Taking pictures of the Step and Stroll was the hardest thing I ever had to try and photograph... so the pictures all suck... they are all blurry beyond all belief the only ones I could salvage were from when the Kappas were on stage... Who were awesome by the way... gotta love those pretty boys! But they were blurry too... so.. I'll give you the best of the worst pictures I've ever taken ever in my life. It was a lovely event though.

Also happening that night was Vegas Night which included a fashion show where everything worn on stage was made with only tape and garbage bags. I really wished I could have been in two places at once because once the Step and Stroll was over so was the fashion show... I'll try to get some pictures of that up... from other people but from the people I saw in the hallways the clothes were very well put together, no pun intended, and very cute... I'll get on that ASAP.

Early early early in the morning....

The Hunger Task Cleanup was a success. BPG along with many other campus organizations were at the event to help clean up different sites close to the campus some on Keno-where... some in Racilla... lol. Our group signed up to help out at the Girl Scouts site. It was pretty fun I met two new people from school and made a difference. I'm proud of myself... I woke up early early early in the morning... for me anyway... at like 7 on a Saturday morning after a late night to be ready by 8 for the cleanup. I was cranky... tired... and just not in my element. But eventually I had fun. We had to clean up the campsites. there were random fire pits throughout the grounds and we had to "make them look pretty" that was our task... I tried to take pictures but at the like fifth one... my batteries died.... sorry... didn't think that they would die so fast. beyond the point... There were many organizations there... Greeks At parkside.... BSU... BPG... just to name a few. I was pretty surprised at the turnout... it was a weekend... early in the morning on a nice day... but people still showed up. I must say when people are needed people show up to help out. I've got to make sure I charge up my batteries for Wednesday... there is a Step and Stroll expo...GAP (Greeks at Parkside) are doing it big for greek week... so many events so little time. it'll be intresting. I can't wait!

Jaz's Birthday Celebration!

So My roomie and long time friend turned 20 yesterday. We had to do her birthday over the top because she was the mastermind behind everyone else's birthday parties. So the way that we chose to go about things was by telling her that we would celebrate her birthday on Friday when everyone got paid. She fell for it... mad as ever about it but she did... to make her more mad I told her that I used the money that I was going to use to buy stuff for her birthday to buy my 200 and somethin' dollar skates... she was too pissed at me! It was so hard to keep that act up for the week and weekend. Man she hated me so bad... I didn't really do that but I was going to use that money for my skates but her birthday is a little more important to me than new skates... I can get those later. We had everyone tellin' her that Friday we would get her a cake and go out to eat and go bowling and all this stuff and you could tell that she was a little hurt about it but she was making it seem like it was okay... I felt horrible! She was so sad all day... but that was worth the reaction we got out of her when we surprised her. I had to keep her away from the dorms all day long... that was so hard! but everyone else made the magic happen. the plan was to have her think that we were keeping her away from the room so that we could decorate it... and she'd be all excited about getting the door decorated when in reality it wasn't decorated at all... and then she'd be all sad again... and then someone would call her and ask for help with math homework and have her come to the basement and help. where all the people were and the room was decorated and reserved just for her Birthday... that didn't really workout... we never went to the dorm first... we went straight to the basement after the BPG meeting... but her reaction was priceless... lol Scooby and Dora theme people everywhere... decorations it was all fun and games. On the down side she had like two test the next day and needed to study so it was sort of rushed... but fun none the less.
